Without music life doesn't have much meaning. That's how Young Bankz feel's about his journey towards his music career. This 23 year old Miami Native is spending his days and nights in the studio writing and recording songs, or simply expressing himself through poetry. Despite minor troubled occurrences that took place in his life that resulted in him facing jail time, he has persevered and making a name for himself.
Growing up in Miami, Bankz attended Gratigny Elementary, which is the school where he met all of his childhood friends. Bankz learned to play the drums at the age of 13; he loved music and all extracurricular activities. He and his friends were never exposed to the streets, violence, and crime until over a period of time where they started to create it. What they thought was just a group of friends playing rough around the neighborhood turned out to be a gang that Bankz included was involved in. He ended up being quite the problem child from suspensions, to being expelled from his middle and high school. His life quickly took a turn in the wrong direction. One day Bankz got a reality check that motivated him to put the street life to the side and focus on playing football and finishing up high school. All he wanted to do was make his mother proud and he did just that. 2007 was the year that he graduated from North Miami Senior High school and long after graduation, August 16, 2008 Marc Marcelin also known as Young Bankz was arrested for armed robbery. He found himself caught back into the street life again and suffered the real consequences by spending 5 months in jail and being on house arrest for 9 months. During that time of his life where all he could do was think and pray, he began to reflect on the moments when he felt most happy. Those moments included writing music and recording for fun. Young Bankz who was 18 years old at the time joined forces with his brother and a few of his child hood friends and made a group called the "Goonie Goonz". The group created great music together, and made a statement with their style and charisma. Over a period of time Bankz began to cook up another plan and thought it would be best for him to start a solo career. Eventually the group came to an agreement to release Young Bankz. He remains loyal to his former group mates, but it was time to open up another chapter in his life.
Young Bankz released his first solo project February 29, 2012 that was entitled "Push to start". This mix-tape was his break out to independence as a solo artist. Bankz top 5 musical influences are Michael Jackson, Lil Wayne, Tupac, Eminem, and The Temptations. With that being a very diverse group of artist, it gives you an idea of the type of artist that Young Bankz will be in the industry. He mentioned what will differentiate him from other artist and that is his energy, punch-lines, and his pizazz on the stage. His plan is to become legendary in the industry and he will do whatever it takes to get there. Young Bank's love's the current the state that hip hop is in at the moment, he respects break through artist like Drake, Meek Mill, Wale, and Wiz Kalifah ." Now it's time for me to set my own genre of music and make it a Bank's movement" he stated. He plans to give the music industry exactly what he feels it needs and that is more heart felt records to touch lives. This is the beginning of a new epidemic!
